III. you - Please respond to the following questions

Do you have any previous experience as a medicine cat?

Do you have any previous moderating experience? If so, please list website(s) with URL(s).

This is part one, as parts two and three will not fit in the same post as it. Please see below Wildfire's posts for the rest of it. Thank you.

Name: Arrowfeather
Age: 36 moons
Gender: Femme
Physical Description:
Arrowfeather is quite the different sort of cat. She has thick, glimmering white fur that is rather short. Although her fur does not shine, the white in it seems to make it glimmer. Her coat has two layers of short fur to it; and it does not look long at all. The double coat makes her fur very thick, and keeps her warm during leafbare. On parts of her body, a ginger color is present in her pelt. When she is in a strong beam of sunlight, the white of her fur appears almost translucent.

Arrowfeather's fur doesn't usually get tangled, but it is almost always out of place. Her frame appears larger because of the double pelt, but she is actually quite normal-sized. The fur that covers her body is kit-soft and silky to the touch, but it does not shine like most cats with silky fur. Her tail is coated in three layers of very long fur, at least an inch long. When Arrowfeather walks, her double coat ripples over her powerful muscles, yet she holds herself with all of the grace and balance that one would expect from a medicine cat.

Arrowfeather's tail is very long, a lot like the rest of her body, the length of which adds to her impeccable balance. Her muscles are large and broad, giving her a powerful look. Her paws are also very wide, which gives her very impeccable balance. Her claws, even when she retracts them, are so long that you can see their tips, and are very powerful because they have to hold up to any weather. Despite this, she never uses her claws for anything more than climbing trees for fun.

Arrowfeather's legs are also long, although they don’t add any sort of clumsiness. In fact, her long legs actually seem to add to her amazing balance. Additionally, Arrowfeather is very fast, which is when she needs to get to a hurt cat quickly, or needs to get herbs for an ill cat. However, Arrowfeather does have a very painful limp in her right back leg from a fox attack many moons ago. This slows her sometimes and saps her stamina, but she usually tries to work around it.

Her neck is just a little on the long side, and her two-toned head gives her a perfect-looking build. Her head is covered in a single coat, unlike the rest of her body. On her ears, there are two tufts of long ginger fur, like those of a lynx. Arrowfeather's eyes shine in a dark amber color, with a hint of blue showing around her pupils.

Her nose is a pale pinkish color, looking almost like the white fur that surrounds it. Beneath her nose are long white teeth that can be rather thick. When her mouth is closed, the tips of her teeth point out, giving her a wild appearance. But, like her claws, she never uses her teeth to inflict pain. When you add all of these features together you get a tall, long-looking cat that looks like a cat that can cause some serious damage.

A cat’s five senses are their most important feature. Without sight or smell, it would be considerably difficult to hunt. Arrowfeather’s senses, while they may not be top-notch, are certainly functional. Her two-toned eyes can see the lightning-quick movements of a mouse several fox-lengths away. Her ears are very keen, and she can pick up the sounds of a startled bird halfway to Moonpool. (That’s only if she focuses, though. She doesn’t just hear every single bird and mouse from camp to halfway to Moonpool.) Her sense of smell is considerable, too. While she may not be able to scent a rabbit in a patch of heather, she can smell sickness the minute she walks out of her den. (That is, if there is a sickness…) She can taste her prey, or the blood from an enemy’s wound as her teeth close down, and she can feel the pain of an injury equally as well.

Her skills, like any cat, aren’t perfect. In hunting or fishing, she can do reasonably well—enough to feed herself, although a rabbit or other fast creature might occasionally get away. When she stalks her prey on land, her stance is perfectly balanced, despite her limp. She has spent moons upon moons training her stance to ignore her limp, while of course using her medicinal skills as well. Arrowfeather stalks her food like the wind—always there, but impossible to see. This isn't because she is incredibly fast at all, it is just that she is able to hide. She’s also a great fighter. Although as a Medicine Cat she does not need to hunt or fight as much as a warrior, she is able to do so when she wishes. What she really focuses on is speed. Her lightning-quick reflexes are usually enough to defeat most cats—maybe even a fox, with a little help, of course. This spped is hindered by her limp, the hated limp. Her speed isn’t always used for battle, though. Sometimes, she likes to run—just to run with no reason at all. Though she’d never beat another cat in a race due to her limp, she still enjoys the feel of the wind in her fur.

When she’s not fighting or hunting (or healing, obviously) she’s off having fun. Arrowfeather goes swimming and tries to race the fish, losing every time. She also goes exploring, but she’s not very good at that either. She hasn’t found anything interesting yet. She also likes to spend her free time teaching and telling stories—she’s as bad as an elder in that way. But still, she’s pretty good at it, and that’s what counts!

Personality:
Arrowfeather has this powerful aura about her that commands respect from all ranks below her, and even some above. She naturally has gentleness and sweetness when it comes to patients, and often this will calm even the most enraged and upset cat. As a medicine cat, she has picked up that characteristic tone of voice -one that only patients hear. It tells the sick cat that everything is going to be fine, to focus on their rest, and they’ll be better than ever in no time. As said before, she is very gentle and sweet, getting a cat in and out of her den with the least amount of pain possible. Sometimes, though, it isn’t a physical wound, but a mental problem. She doesn’t have the time to seek out cats suffering from some sort of mental anxiety, but if any come to her, Arrowfeather’s empathetic side shows.

When she wants to, Arrowfeather can command total attention from all, even the leaders. Even so, Arrowfeather always listens to those of a higher rank, and as an apprentice would always do anything that her mentor wanted her to do.

Her primary devotion is to her Clan, and Arrowfeather would sacrifice her life for RiverClan without a second thought. Moving on, as an apprentice she loved to learn, and is a brilliant cat. She has a very promising future, and was often told by her mentor Raincloud that the medicine cat was lucky to have a cat like Arrowfeather for her apprentice. Although this may seem a bit unbelievable, Arrowfeather actually doesn't talk very much. She prefers to listen, to soak up knowledge like a sponge. The elders will often tell her stories, due to the fact that she is such a good audience. Arrowfeather takes every single one of the elders' stories to heart, and never forgets them. She will often tell them to other cats afterwards.

Kits and apprentices look to her for guidance, and think of her as a sort of role model. She likes to joke and play with those closest to her, and is popular among all of the Clans. When healing, Arrowfeather takes on a whole different personality. She becomes quiet and patient, and her intelligence is impossible to miss, even though she doesn't flaunt it like some other cats blessed with a good brain.

Even though she no longer is an apprentice, she still has much to learn. Arrowfeather wants to be like Mothflight, the first WindClan medicine cat, whose curiosity and eagerness to learn led her to the discovery of many herbs the Clans use today, as well as the original Moonstone. The femme is also a huge neat freak, which can be either good or bad. The good part is that she can always find what she needs at a moment’s notice. The bad part is that a kit’s honest mistake means an hour of tidying up. However, Arrowfeather adores kits. When a few kits wander out of the nursery and come into her den, she’ll tell the kits stories of StarClan, or tell them what some of the herbs do. Some say that she is just trying to find an apprentice among them, thich is only partially true. Part of her just loves simply to give these kits a basis in medicine; just in case they’re in trouble and can’t reach her or another medicine cat. The other part of her is trying to find an apprentice out of the kits in the nursery.

Arrowfeather is very honest about herself. She’ll show anyone who wants to know that she’s a very kind and caring medicine cat. She’ll even show some of her flaws, too. But there’s a side to the medicine cat that she won’t reveal to anyone. This intriguing mystery sometimes attracts other cats to her, but they’re soon on their way when they realize she won’t relinquish her secrets. Not many cats know how close she truly is to StarClan. She will often visit them in dreams, similar to the Leafpool who once resided in ThunderClan. Occasionally, she speaks with StarClan during the day. Whether she’s actually getting a response from them is another matter entirely. She sometimes mutters her prayers aloud, which can be mistaken for insanity. She does have a voice in her head, but she tries her hardest not the let her Clan know that she’s on the edge of her sanity. Seriously, think about it. How would that look? Not so good, right?

History
Kithood: Arrowkit was born in the wild. Her parents were a mystery even then, and she never found out who they were. She was of a single litter, unnamed and unheard. She can remember her first moments, though very vaguely. After she was born, she could only feel cold. The little nameless kit went without her mother's warmth from the time she came in to this world. When she opened her eyes, she expected, like most kits, to see her mother looking down lovingly upon her. All she saw was the forest. There was no other cat with her, only the prickly berry bush she had taken refuge in. The berries on it were bright red in color. To survive, the little kit began to eat the berries from the bush. Suddenly, she felt a pain in her stomach, and everything went black.

She awoke to see a tiny cat. This cat was the size of a newborn kitten, but her grace and the way she held herself told the little kit that she was older than a kitten. The kitten-sized cat was pale, a silvery-grey color, with darker grey flecks and had icy blue eyes. A large, tan cat with green eyes came up behind the little grey one, and nodded approvingly. "Very good Rainpaw!" she said to the smaller cat. "The kit has been saved!" The smaller cat, Rainpaw, looked up at the larger one with a look of excitement on her tiny face. Rainpaw was smaller than the nameless kit! "Thank you Jadeleaf." said Rainpaw to the larger cat, Jadeleaf. "Uhn" the nameless kit had managed to force out of her dry, cracked lips. She was surprised by how dry and ragged her voice sounded. Rainpaw introduced herself later. "Do you have a name?" she had asked the nameless kit. "No." had been the reply. Rainpaw had simply smiled and said "StarClan has chosen for your name to be Arrowkit. Welcome to WindClan, dearest Arrowkit" Rainpaw had then bowed smaller than her already small stature. The two became best of friends in the five moons that followed. They say that Rainpaw, who never cared much to groom her pelt, especially after her siblings and father died, looked like a cat covered in pure silver, catching the sunlight and drawing it towards her. There was an aura around these two cats that even the tiniest kit could tell the two were connected.

Arrowkit spent her nursery days quiet and observing. She obeyed her adopted mother absolutely, and made few friends. Some of the kits might have been jealous of the way Rainpaw and Jadeleaf adored her. Some might have been bored of her because she never talked much. Some might think that she thought she was just too high and mighty to talk to them, so they ignored her right back. This made for a very lonely kithood.

By the time Arrowkit was ready to be apprenticed, Rainpaw had finally grown to be the size of a regular kit. Arrowkit had learned all about the warrior code, and about StarClan from the medicine cat apprentice. She learned that Jadeleaf was the Medicine cat, and was one of the nicest cats in the world. She also learned why Rainpaw was so small, because she was merely the runt of the litter. In fact, Rainpaw had been 6 moons old when the two had met. Just before Arrowkit's apprentice ceremony, A badger attacked the camp and killed many cats, one of them being Jadeleaf. Arrowkit had wept along with her friend, and she had cheered when Rainpaw became Raincloud. It was no surprise when Arrowkit asked to be made medicine cat apprentice, and even less surprise that Raincloud agreed. Arrowkit was now Arrowpaw.

Raincloud, Arrowfeather's previous mentor, can also be called upon for her memories of Arrowkit. She had been the one to find the little unconscious kit under the deathberry bush. She had called for Jadeleaf immediately, and had run back to camp as fast as her tiny legs took her.

When she made it into the medicine cat's den, the first thing Jadeleaf had asked was "Where is the juniper you were supposed to collect?" Rainpaw had merely tugged on her beloved mentor's leg, and Jadeleaf had followed her to the spot where she had seen the kit. Jadeleaf had quickly run with the kit back to camp, leaving Rainpaw to stumble back on her stumpy legs. She was like a newborn kit, with adult fur. She and Jadeleaf had worked for hours straight to try and save the kit, which had eaten half of the deathberries on the bush she had been found under. It was a miracle when the kit woke up.

Rainpaw had spoken to the kit later, when Jadeleaf had fallen asleep. "Do you have a name?" she asked. The reply was a simple "No". Starry cats suddenly surrounded Rainpaw, their sweet smell feeling like paradise. "Dearest Rainpaw, how you have grown. It seems like only a moon ago you were the size of a mouse" Her father spoke, his pale silvery fur glimmering in the moonlight that shone into the den. "Arrowkit will be a wonderful apprentice to you, Rainpaw." Sootkit and Dapplekit, Raincloud's siblings whom had died in kithood, chorused together.

All at once, the dream vanished. Rainpaw looked to the nameless kit in the nest beside her. "StarClan has chosen for your name to be Arrowkit. Welcome to WindClan, dearest Arrowkit" she said, lowering her tiny head in a bow. Arrowkit had fallen asleep purring.

Rainpaw and Arrowkit soon became best of friends, and Rainpaw taught her everything about Clan life. More importantly, Rainpaw taught Arrowkit about StarClan and being a Medicine Cat. She had asked Arrowkit once about the little kit's parents, but they were even a mystery to Arrowkit. As Arrowkit's apprentice ceremony loomed, Rainpaw became nervous. Would her family's prophecy come true? Then, the night before Arrowkit's apprentice ceremony, A badger attacked camp and Jadeleaf was killed. That meant that Rainpaw was now the official Medicine Cat. She became Raincloud at her naming ceremony. Arrowkit's apprentice ceremony had been postponed, and Arrowkit used that time to ask Raincloud to become the Medicine Cat Apprentice. Raincloud agreed, and her family's prophecy came true.

Apprenticeship: Arrowpaw opened into the world of a Medicine Cat. She loved her position. When she went to the Moonpool for the first time, She was amazed by what she saw. When they got there, Raincloud had called out. The other three Medicine Cats, (Some with apprentices of their own) were there to witness her acceptance by StarClan. Raincloud had said to StarClan "Arrowpaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of a medicine cat?"
"It is." Arrowpaw had answered.
"Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present to you this apprentice. She has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight, so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance with your will. Now, crouch down and drink from the pool." Raincloud had said the last words to Arrowpaw, and the little apprentice did just that. She bent down and took a sip from the pool. Suddenly, starry cats surrounded her. She saw many images. A voice spoke to her, litling and smooth.
"The claws of shadow grip the clouds
Blood will stain the rain."
Arrowpaw had no idea what it meant. When she snapped out of the trance, Raincloud was beside her, glee in her icy eyes. Arrowpaw was about to tell the tiny Medicine Cat everything, but her mentor quieted the ginger-and-white apprentice with her tail. When the two of them got back to camp, Arrowpaw asked her mentor for assistance in discovering the meaning behind the words. She repeated the phrase to Raincloud. Her mentor seemed to not know what the prophecy meant, and was often found by Arrowpaw to be up at night, muttering it. They didn't discover the meaning for a long time. Somehow, Eaincloud changed one day. Arrowpaw didn't understand why, but Raincloud changed. Raincloud was crazy. Her mind was broken. Over a long time—and begging StarClan for answers—Arrowpaw got a pretty good sketch of the story.

See, as a very young kit—even before she could see, Raincloud was destined to be a medicine cat. She would always wander into the medicine den—even before she could think beyond her mother’s warm milk. From a very, very early age, Raincloud was a protégée, and the rest of the nursery hated her for it, including the queens. At two moons of age, Lightheart received her first vision. (The current medicine cat didn’t believe in StarClan, and StarClan needed a strong messenger) After that, Raincloud received messages nearly every night. Despite this, she wanted to become a normal warrior. Yet StarClan wanted, needed her for this position. So her siblings and father had died suddenly. The tiny cat had been filled with greif, and chose to become a medicine cat. Now, Arrowpaw didn’t know exactly what happened, but somewhere along the lines, the kindly medicine cat everyone knew became a cover to hide the truth—she was completely insane.
StarClan had sent Raincloud too many visions too early. In their hopes to strengthen their messenger, StarClan weakened her. Raincloud’s mentor pushed her too hard. Raincloud pushed herself too hard. Her mother pushed her too hard. StarClan pushed her too hard. There’s only so much pressure a cat can take. Raincloud just caved.

The mental breakdown happened only a short while after Arrowpaw became an apprentice, about a moon after that first moonpool visit. Although she hid it well around everyone but Arrowpaw, Raincloud was completely insane. She was nearly silent, just going over the herbs in that insane whisper of hers every day. It was unnerving. However, Raincloud found the strength to train her friend, moments of sanity found in her wave of insanity.

Medicine cat: Raincloud was found dead only a moon after Arrowpaw had received her Medicine Cat name; Arrowfeather. There was so little evidence, that nobody could figure out how she had died. Without the closure of knowing what had happened to the mentor who had been like a sister to her,(Even though Raincloud had gone insane, she was still like a sister to the brilliant femme.) Arrowfeather felt completely alone. She went through her days in a fog, her mind never really on her duties. Life didn't really seem to matter.

It wasn't until Windkit came around that Arrowfeather started to take an interest in things again. Windkit was fascinated by Arrowfeather's work, and often told her that she wanted to be a medicine cat. Arrowfeather was her hero. It was no surprise at all when WindClan's leader made Windkit Arrowfeather's apprentice. The ginger-and-white Medicine cat had finally found a reason to live, a reason to wake up again.

When she first brought little Windpaw to the Moonpool, she spoke the ancient chant that her own mentor had spoken at her first Moonpool trip.
"Windpaw, is it your wish to enter the mysteries of a medicine cat?"
"It is." Windpaw had answered, her voice revealing the excitement that she held within.
"Then come forward. Warriors of StarClan, I present to you this apprentice. She has chosen the path of a medicine cat. Grant her your wisdom and insight, so that she may understand your ways and heal her Clan in accordance with your will. Now, crouch down and drink from the pool." Arrowfeather had been brought back as she finished the speech, and she bent to drink from the Moonpool just after Windpaw had.

An image of Raincloud first appeared. "Come." Arrowfeather's mentor had said to her, and she was brought into Raincloud's memory.
It was greenleaf, even though Windpaw’s first Moonpool trip had been during leafbare. Arrowfeather looked around to see Raincloud standing by the Medicine Cat's den. Behind her, was a WindClan cat. The cat made a swift claw swipe in Raincloud’s neck and the Medicine cat fell. Before he left, the cat that had killed Raincloud turned, and Arrowfeather saw the face of Darkclaw, a warrior she had never trusted.

Arrowfeather had awoken by the Moonpool, again in the cold. "Thank you,” she had whispered, knowing Raincloud would be listening. Her mentor had finally given her closure, and the answer to the prophecy she had recieved as an apprentice. Claws of shadow, meaning Darkclaw, had kiiled the cloud and stained the rain with blood. Raincloud had been killed. Upon arrival in WindClan camp, Arrowfeather had immediately told Cloverstar about what Raincloud had shown her, and Darkclaw was banished from the Clan.

Windpaw died only three moons later. She had been gathering herbs with Arrowfeather when a fox had attacked the two. "Windpaw, go for help! get a warrior!" Although Arrowfeather had shouted this, her little apprentice hadn't moved, and in the blink of an eye the fox had torn her to bits. The Medicine Cat screamed and cried, begging StarClan to save Windpaw. She knew, when she saw the starry cats next to her apprentice, that the fox had done its damage. Windpaw was dead.

Crying and screaming, the Medicine cat attacked the fox with a greater strength then she'd ever had. She clawed its eyes and bit into its fur as it desperately tried to throw her off. It managed to break a bone in her right hind leg. Just after the injury, having heard Arrowfeather's screams, what seemed like all of WindClan's warriors barreled into the fox, flying across the moor. The fox was dead almost immediately. They carried Arrowfeather back to camp, despite the proud cat's protests. They also carried Windpaw's body back.

To set her own injury proved to be almost impossible, and it is due to this incident that Arrowfeather finds herself sporting a limp. The cat fell into the darkness of her depression again. She hid it well enough, but it was there. It still gnaws at her to this day.

(continuation of my first post)

Roleplay:
It was dark and cloudy, with no rain. The weather wasn't at all unusual as of late, without the rain that the cats of the forest relied on. Specifically, the cats of the moor. Arrowfeather was lounging in her den, watching her herb stores with two-toned eyes. She knew that she needed juniper, a berry used for bellyaches. There were others, as well, but juniper seemed to be the most depleted. It was then that the she-cat was shocked from her reverie by a loud wail.
As fast as she could move with her limp, Arrowfeather raced to where she knew the wail had come from; the nursery. There she saw a shocking sight. There were three of them, three ill cats. Snowkit was the first noticed to be ill, likely due to her young age and small body. Beside the kit, Dappleheart looked beside herself with worry. It was obvious that the single-kitted queen had made the wail. However, one other cat was in the den. A black pelt curled up against Snowkit's white was quivering. "Nightpaw? Are you alright?" Although she asked, the Medicine Cat knew this answer. Nightpaw was ill as well. Arrowfeather first turned to concentrate on Snowkit. The kit seemed to have some sort of infection in a sore on her stomach. "I can fix this," she murmured. Just as she turned to look at Nightpaw, the black apprentice rolled over and began to writhe on the ground. "Nightpaw, what did you eat now?" She didn't stop to wait for an answer from the tom.
Again she darted to her den and looked around for a few herbs. Marigold, to fight Snowkit's infection, yarrow, to make Nightpaw throw up whatever he ate to make him so ill, and chamomile to calm Dappleheart. With the herbs secure in her teeth, Arrowfeather began to dart back out.
What sounded like a dying mouse, only louder, caught the medicine cat's attention outside the nursery. Iceshadow was lying at the edge of the camp, his blue eyes closed and black speckled pelt trembling with every cough. Again he made the dying mouse sound, and Arrowfeather knew he couldn't breathe.
Although Iceshadow's situation was dire, so were those of the two younger cats inside the nursery. Arrowfeather nodded at the warrior to tell him she'd be back as soon as she could before darting inside the dark den. When she made it inside, she took charge immediately. Dropping the herbs, she said, "Dappleheart, eat this chamomile for me. Then wait beside Snowkit and calm her while I see to Nightpaw." Without waiting to see if her orders had been carried out, the ginger-spotted she-cat placed a few yarrow leaves inside Nightpaw's mouth and placed a dock leaf beside him. "Eat this. It will make you throw up whatever poison is in your system. Remember to throw up on that dock leaf." She didn't have time to wait for Nightpaw to carry out her orders as she quickly began to chew the marigold. It would need to be chewed so that it could be applied to Snowkit's sore, where its juice would bring out the infection. Jaws working furiously, she soon spit it out into her paw. She pressed it into the red, pus-filled sore and let the juice seep in, knowing it would sting the poor kit. "Shhh..." Arrowfeather never had been very good at comforting others. Sighing, the large femme shook her head and motioned to Dappleheart. "Press this into the wound until the juice is gone. It will get rid of the infection."
She ran again as fast as her limp would allow, leaving Dappleheart to manage her kit. Iceshadow was in the same position as she had left him in. She checked his throat first by holding her ear against it to figure out if something was blocking it.
There was nothing there.

Describe what you think a good medicine cat should be able to do. Basically the qualities a medicine cat should have.
A good Medicine Cat is patient and gentle, always calm in a dire situation. A good Medicine Cat puts the Clan before anything else, even him or herself. A good Medicine Cat cares about every cat and knows how to heal.
A good Medicine Cat's roleplayer always is literate, doing their best to add as much length to their posts as possible. A good Medicine Cat's roleplayer is active and works hard; One also uses spellcheck.
As a medicine cat, what do you feel you can contribute to the site?
I'm hardworking and literate, yet fun to be around. I work hard along with my precious Arrowfeather who has carried me through so long to try to save as many cats as possible.
Do you have any experience with web design/coding?
HTML and CSS, yes. See Flaming Arrows for one of my web design examples.
How active can you be? How much time can you put in?
I can come on almost every day of the week, and put in a couple of hours each day.

Please write a paragraph (75+ words) on why you feel you should be the medicine cat
Not convinced yet? You are harder then I thought. Still, I love the Medicine Cat position more then any other position in the warriors world. I'm fairly literate, and I often get gasps of surprise at my bios. Yet literacy isn't the only thing needed in a good roleplayer. A good roleplayer is also creative and active, both of which you will see of me soon.
I also know my stuff, having been in Medicine Cat and Medicine Cat Apprentice positions since I started roleplaying just over a year ago. Most of those roleplays weren’t proboards sites; rather, they were on a forum site called gaia. Almost all of them died in a matter of days. Yet I wasn’t deterred, and, upon discovering proboards sites, discovered the art of the long-term roleplay.
